2012 FLYING SCHOOLS

For flying scholarships flown in 2012, the Directors of the Air League Educational Trust will fund residential courses at certain flying schools in theUK.

The Directors have therefore asked that you consider the following priorities when choosing a flying school:

1.       On a residential course lasting approximately 10 days at either:

  • South Warwickshire Flying School, Wellesbourne Mountford
  • Tayside Aviation, Dundee or
  • Wycombe Air Centre, Booker

You will train with other flying scholarship winners at the school on dates to be agreed during the summer months of 2012. If necessary, local board and accommodation and daily travel to and from the school will be provided. However, you will be responsible for travel from home to the flying school and return at the start and end of the scholarship period. If you live close enough to travel daily from home, the Trust will not fund the cost of travel to and from the flying school.

2.       At an Air League member flying school or certain RAF Flying Clubs; call the League’s office on (020) 7222-8463 for a current list. Please note that the Trust does not normally fund travel or accommodation costs if you use one of these schools or clubs.

3.   Exceptionally, at the nearest NPPL training school to where you live or the school at which you may have already started your NPPL course. Please note the Trust will not fund travel or accommodation costs.

  •  At some flying schools separate landing fees are payable which could reduce the number of flying hours awarded.
  • Some schools may charge for ground training and ground examinations and such charges are not included in the award.
  • You must have a valid medical certificate in your possession when you arrive at your selected training school. Medical certification fees are not included in the scholarship award.
