Job Title: Education and Operations Officer (Programme Delivery)
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Location: London Office or remote working with attendance at the London office when required. This role requires regular travel around the UK during programme delivery months.
Renumeration: £26k – £30k per annum based on experience.
Appointment terms: Full-time 35 hrs per week
Hours: 09:00 – 17:00 with evening and weekend work when required.
Summary of role
The Education and Operations Officer (Programme Delivery) is key to ensuring the successful delivery of the Air Leagues multiple education programmes for KS3 & KS4 Secondary and Further Education. The role involves delivering engaging sessions in all aspects of Aviation and Aerospace linked to extracurricular development and engagement, and national curriculum STEM delivery. You will assist in the development of new materials and programmes and will be supported by and work closely with the Chief Operating Officer.
This role will combine delivering and developing in person activity around the UK and delivering our virtual sessions across a variety of platforms (70%). When not delivering programme activity you will assist in general administrative operations for the Charity (30%). Providing support with Scholarships, Membership and new projects. You will also be supporting business volunteers to deliver sessions to young people at our careers and gliding days.
Throughout the pandemic we have established an engaging and interactive virtual offer and a partnership with Speakers for Schools that has broadened the opportunities for schools to connect with the Air League beyond their local geography and we expect to maintain this alongside the return to face-to-face activities.

As a national project supported by the Department for Transport and Boeing UK, the programme not only inspires, stimulates, and encourages young individuals to consider a career within aviation and aerospace, but also acts as a catalyst to spark the inspiration and realisation that this is an opportunity and possibility that is accessible.
EDUCATION AND OPERATIONS OFFICER (PROGRAMME DELIVERY)
Areas of Responsibility and specific duties:
- On site and virtual delivery of the Air Leagues education and youth work programmes, engaging young people 14-19 in secondary, further education and those in higher education with all aspects of Aviation and Aerospace careers and opportunities and STEM subjects.
- Managing relationships with Secondary schools in different regions of the country to host planning calls, deliver sessions, gather evaluation data and ensure a legacy of independent use of Soaring to Success and Aeroportal resources beyond the project.
- Setting up virtual and face-to-face activities including school liaison, securing volunteers, setting up on Speakers for Schools and hosting on various tech platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, Google Classrooms, etc)
- Facilitating virtual activities to secondary school children and young professionals and to link with volunteers, hosting sessions online to ensure an interactive and engaging experience for children and volunteers.
- Working and networking with schools, local agencies, community and corporate partnerships.
- Support the development of employer networks.
- Demonstrate the link between youth provision and educational achievement through effective qualitative and quantitative project outcome reporting
- Support reporting and monitoring of Soaring to Success and Project Slingshot programs
- Support the COO in managing partnerships and networks to facilitate the employability program
- Be involved in the recruitment, training, and support of project volunteers.
- Support working with a network of local agencies, schools and community partners to co-ordinate delivery days for Soaring to Success.
- Support existing youth programs and the development of new provisions
- Support the Air League’s strategic approach to youth provision, CPD and employability
- Connect and develop relationships with new schools, agencies, providers of NEET provision and employability programs
- Be aware of the Governments Department for Transport Strategy and Department for Education STEM strategy.
- Attend and report back on progress with any network/partnership meeting as a requirement of our partnership funding.
STEM Aviation Community Engagement
- Be involved in the recruitment, training and support of volunteers for program delivery
- Engage local community and family groups linked to NEET
- To link and work closely with local partnerships programs
- Support the development of employer networks linking to the opportunity area program
- Support the existing ‘asset based locality’ approach to community development
Support the delivery of the Air Leagues Operations, Scholarships, Membership and Aeroportal development and general day to day running of the Charity.
- Assist in co-ordinating the Scholarships and Bursaries, applications, interviews and awards.
- Assist in responding to and monitor the Air League general enquires emails
- Ensure all correspondence is recorded accurately in the CRM system
- Ensure all parental consent forms are completed and safeguarding measures are adhered to
- Supporting and co-hosting sessions to teachers including CPDs, staff meetings and info webinars to promote Soaring to Success, deepen engagement and demonstrate impact
- In collaboration with rest of team, identifying need for and developing new resources and guidance to support greater school engagement.
- In collaboration with rest of team, develop and implement new processes and system improvements, to support increased school engagement.
Monitoring and evaluation
- Demonstrate the impact of our programmes through effective qualitative and quantitative project outcome reporting
- Demonstrate the impact of the programmes and link between education careers knowledge and aviation industry access.
- Co-ordinate and collate required surveys, feedback from partners and beneficiaries to provide qualitative and quantitative reporting on programmes outcome, including effective demonstration of outcome reporting, including outcome tools and methodology.
- Communicating regularly and attending meetings with partners and schools.
- Assist in the research and identification of additional funding opportunities.
- To clearly articulate and be a tangible portrayal of the Air Leagues vision and mission & teaching, representing our values.
- Respond to changing needs and carry out appropriate duties, in line with the purpose of the job, as may be reasonably required by your line manager.
- To attend regular supervision with your line manager.
- To attend any relevant training courses as required by your line manager.
- Attend Air League team meetings and contribute to the development plan and strategy.
