ATPL Groundschool Scholarship sponsored by Bristol Groundschool

The Air League and Bristol Groundschool are proud to present a brand new scholarship for those wanting to take the next steps in their professional development journey to becoming a commercial pilot. We have two 50% groundschool scholarships on offer which entitle the winners to half the cost of their ATPL(A) distance learning theory course. The full cost of the course is £2,350 and includes:
- ATPdigital CBT software which works on and offline and includes animated diagrams, videos and tests (available on PC, Mac and iPad)
- Revision weeks (3 * 5 days) at Bristol Groundschool HQ in Clevedon near Bristol.
- 6 Accelerator days (2 per module)
- 12 months’ free access to the Bristol Question Bank – BGS Online
Awardees will be responsible for finding the remainder of their fees (£1175) which will be payable before the course materials are dispatched to the award winner.
Please note that the following are not included in the scholarship:
- CAA exam costs
- Accommodation
- Food during the mandatory revision weeks
- Travel to the revision weeks
- A Jeppesen Student Pilot Route Manual
- A CRP-5 navigation computer with pen
- A protractor, drawing set and calculator
In order to apply, you must meet the following conditions:
- Be a member of The Air League (or be applying to be a member at the time of application for the scholarship). To join, visit https://www.airleague.co.uk/membership/
- ALT membership is not restricted to UK citizens – you do however have to be a resident in the UK.
- Awardees must attend their first revision week within 6 months of the scholarship being notified.
- Applicants for the Scholarship must already hold a PPL(A) or be able to evidence they are able finance and complete their training by the 24th June 2019 and will be able commence their ATPL groundschool within 6 months of being awarded the scholarship
- Hold/ have confirmation from an AME that they are capable of obtaining a Class 1 Medical
- Must be 18 or over
- Academic qualifications – you’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs and two A-levels. The training requires a good level of understanding of maths and physics and so any qualifications that demonstrate this may be an advantage.
- Be able to meet the requirements for English language proficiency (for further information visit here).
- Be happy to give back. All Air League Scholars and bursary holders in 2019 must commit to volunteering for at least 2 activities on the Air League’s behalf. This might be coming to help us at Air Shows or other events, going to your local school to talk about your experiences etc. We will be asking you to contribute in fun ways to help get more young people involved and excited about careers in aviation and aerospace plus at the same time, give you fantastic new opportunities to develop yourself and gain new friends and experiences.
- We cannot accept applications from those individuals who have already commenced their training with Bristol Groundschool.
Selection Process
- All application forms must be received by the 2nd June 2019
- Short-listed candidates will be asked to take part in an interview w/c 17th June 2019
- Successful candidates will be notified by the 24th June 2019.
The selection panel also reserves the right to make no award if no suitable candidate is identified
Bristol Groundschool is also a CAA and Austro Control exam centre, so the exams can normally be taken the week following the revision weeks.
